Well, I'm back up at the beamline and waiting for data collection, so I guess that means it's time for another update. The pencil-robot is merrily dropping caps on the floor and all the fans are humming away. So soothing.

Computers seem to have lost their appeal for me; I think I need a new hobby. I used to spend hours and hours a day dreaming about hardware, talking geekery, or browsing the internet. I still do a lot of browsing, but these days it's just killing time. The magic is gone, Internet. I think this is a bad sign.

Perhaps I'll invest all of my new-found computer-deprived time hunting down take-out stands in the Bay Area. Dianna knows all about my illicit love affair with food carts, but I think this is the first time I've ever openly discussed it with the CH poizen boyzen.

OK, so there's not much to discuss. I love any little cart on the sidewalk or street that will sell me food. It doesn't matter if it's good or not. I just want it. I'm inexplicably drawn to cheap, fast, noodles. Hurried curry is OK by me. Fast falafel? Yes, please. I have naughty dreams about the flying chinese food boat from The Fifth Element.

What brought this confession to mind?

I forgot to bring a lunch today.

The flying Chinese food boat? Oh, so that's why you woke up in the middle of the night and... oh, wait, never mind.

Hunting down take-out stands would work much better as a hobby if you had my appetite. One take-out serving is enough to keep you full and comatose for 6 hours, which could make it difficult to continue the hunt. You'll lack that hungry edge that makes you such an efficient predator.

Apparently in Beijing they sell fried bread in those little carts. If you were Chinese, you would be rotund. I would only be your friend out of sympathy.
